Eraldo Pecci

Eraldo Pecci ( born April 12, 1955 in San Giovanni in Marignano, Italy ) is a retired Italian footballer.

He was part of the team of Torino, which surprisingly won the Italian championship in 1976 and continued to play, for example, for Fiorentina, SSC Napoli and Bologna FC. Furthermore Pucci took part with the Italian national football team at the FIFA World Cup 1978 in Argentina.

Career

Club career

Eraldo Pecci, born in 1955 in the Emilian town of San Giovanni in Marignano, began playing football at FC Bologna. After he had there through the youth departments, belonged Pucci, who acted in the position of a midfielder, from 1973 Erstligamannschaft the former Italian master. In his first season as a professional won Eraldo Pecci his first major title, as in the final of the Coppa Italia Palermo 5-4 on penalties - after the extension had a 1-1 draw - was defeated. Pecci transformed while the last penalty for his club before Palermo Erminio Favalli missed crucial.

Pecci remained until the summer of 1975 into the FC Bologna active, another great successes, however, were not recorded. For the 1975/76 season, he accepted an offer of Torino. Trained by Luigi Radice and is provided with players such as Francesco Graziani, Renato Zaccarelli or Paolino Pulici succeeded Torino in Serie A 1975/76 as a surprise. With two points ahead of local rivals Juventus, they finished in the final table the first place, thus securing their first league title since the end of the Grande Torino with the plane crash of Superga in 1949. Through the champion Eraldo Pecci was eligible with the AC Turin on European Cup of Champions 1976/77, where, however, failed in the second round of the German representatives Borussia Mönchengladbach. At the national level remained of further success. After 1976/77 again a second place was occupied, sat down in the following years in the upper middle notes into Peccis last season at the Stadio Comunale one was even only ninth. After the end of the 1980/81 season Eraldo Pecci left the club, which had been renamed the Torino Calcio, and went along with his old team-mate Francesco Graziani to Fiorentina.

When Fiorentina Eraldo Pecci spent four years without major titles. After his first year in Florence in Serie A 1981/82 the league title was pipped for second place, just one point behind Juventus, it was with the performance of the team down. Always touted as favorites for the title, only placements have been achieved in the upper middle in the following seasons, however, and also in the Coppa Italia, no big successes in. Finally, Eraldo Pecci changed in 1985 again the club and joined after 138 league games for Fiorentina SSC Napoli on.

In the emerging team to Diego Maradona Eraldo Pecci played one season and came as part of the Serie A 1985/86 to 24 league games with a goal for the team of coach Ottavio Bianchi. He helped Napoli to reach the third table rank. After the season, the paths of Pecci and SSC Napoli parted again, however. While the SSC led by Maradona in 1987 was crowned champion, Pecci went back to his hometown club FC Bologna, who had since disappeared into the depths of Serie B. After a midfielder rank 1986/87 Pecci managed with Bologna in the 1987/88 season to return to the Series A. With space 14 in Serie A 1988/89 also succeeded extremely tight to avoid relegation. Then Pecci Bologna left again and went for one year now relegated to the third tier club tradition Lane Rossi Vicenza, where he end his career with two final third league games.

National

Between 1975 and 1978 it brought Eraldo Pecci to a total of six caps for the Italian national football team, with him it did not succeed in scoring. From National trainer Enzo Bearzot he was appointed to the Italian squad for the FIFA World Cup 1978 in Argentina. During the tournament, he was not considered. The Italian team acted actually quite successful at the World Championships in South America and finally finished in fourth place after being defeated for the third place of the Brazilian selection in the game.
