Erastus of Corinth

Erastus of Paneas was one of the seventy disciples. He is mentioned in the Book of Acts (Acts 19,22 EU), in the second letter to Timothy (2 Tim 4,20 EU) and Romans (Rom 16,23 EU) as an employee of Paul. Erastus was city treasurer in Corinth. There are various traditions, which he supposed to have become either Bishop of Philippi and died there as a martyr or have taken over the office of bishop in Paneas in Palestine to his further life. Erastus is venerated as a saint.
