Ercheu
Ercheu ( Picard: Èrchu ) is a northern French village with 809 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, in the canton Roye.
Toponymy
The term is Ercheu ( 988: Arceium ) from the Latin term " Arx " returned.
Geography
Ercheu located approximately 7.5 km south of Nesle and 13 km east of Roye and extends across the Canal du Nord addition to the Petit Unitingon, in the neighboring village of Libermont ( Oise ) arises. The summit tunnel " de Basement Panneterie " of the Canal du Nord is located outside of the township, but is named after the nearby La Ferme in Ercheu Panneterie.
In today's castle-like Ferme Lannoy a monastery Notre -Dame is mentioned in the 14th century.
History
In Ercheu was a Merovingian cemetery. Since 1120 was a leper. There was also a solid house.
During the First World War, the town was destroyed. The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
The former villages Bessa Court, Ramecourt and Wailly- lès- Ercheu have left.
