Ereda is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Mäetaguse ( Mäetaguse vald ). It is located in Ida -Viru county (East Wierland ) in northeastern Estonia.

Description and History

The village has 73 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

The place was first mentioned in documents in 1420. The estate was founded in the mid- 15th century.

During the Nazi German occupation of Estonia (1941-1444) was a prison and concentration camps on the territory of the village. On the fate of the prisoners recalls a 1967 monument raised by Peeter Somelar, which is dedicated to the victims of fascism. It was extended by another monument of the Jewish community of the circle Ida -Viru 2005.
