Eressea (video game)

Eressea is a turn-based strategy game that is played by e- mail, and takes place in a fictional fantasy world. The name of the game is derived from Tol Eressëa, a fictional island from the stories of JRR Tolkien. The game has had weekly with a few exceptions trains starting from 27 August 1996. There are Eressea so for over 700 rounds. In April 2009 Eressea had nearly 600 parties. In March 2002, the magazine reported on Bravo Screenfun Eressea. Then the players started to increase rapidly. The player climax had Eressea with over 2000 parties, currently the trend slightly downwards.

The game is designed for any number of players. The game world consists of many islands and is inhabited by the player parties and a global monster party. As a player, you control a party that belongs to one of several breeds from the typical fantasy repertoire and their units learn different talents, reduce raw materials and buildings, transport and weapons can build.

In the main game Eressea an official game goal or end game is not given. However, there are several direct offshoot under the name Vinyambar. The Vinyambar games have some more, some less great rule differences compared to the original game, some even have a specific and solid play goal. All Vinyambar variants are also chargeable. In July 2009, a new game world with modified rules was started. This should serve as a test for newer versions of Eressea.

The game was originally an offshoot of German Atlantis, a German version of the English Atlantis 1.0. It can now also play with English texts. Since December 2008, applications are no longer possible, but the game runs on.
