Ergican Saydam

Ergican Saydam ( born March 28, 1929 in Istanbul, Turkey, † December 21, 2009 ibid. ) Was a Turkish pianist and musicologist.

Life and career

He was trained by the great Viennese pianist Prof. Friedrich Wuhrer in Munich and was one of the most cultured representatives of the old Viennese pianists tradition. He worked as head of the department Serious Music in the Turkish Radio (TRT ) in Istanbul and as a professor at the Musikhochschule Istanbul, as a guest professor in Italy, Austria, Germany, Venezuela and Guyana.

Saydam played as an orchestral soloist and recitalist and as a duo with Professors Michael Grube (violin) and David Lukas (violin).

In addition, he still accompanied in his last major concerts his daughter Ezgi Saydam (soprano ). In Asia, America and Africa as well as in all European music capitals, his interpretation of art was greatly appreciated.
