Eric Abetz

Eric Abetz ( born January 25, 1958 in Stuttgart) is an Australian politician. He belongs to the Liberal Party of Australia and is a member of the Senate. There he acts since 2010 as leader of the parliamentary opposition.

Of 21 October 1998 to 30 January 2001 he was parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Defence. After that, he was Secretary of State until he succeeded by Ian Macdonald the post of Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and Conservation received on 27 January 2006, a position he held until 3 December 2007.
