Eric Bernotas

Eric Bernotas (* August 5, 1971 in West Chester, Pennsylvania ) is a retired American skeleton pilot.

Eric Bernotas came with 30 years of relatively late to the Skeleton. His first World Cup race, he finished in 2004 in Winterberg in 11th place. Already in his second race in Altenberg for the first time he came in eighth in the top ten. His first victory in a World Cup race succeeded in 2005 in Lake Placid, the second followed the following season in the same calendar year at the same place. He won his third race in early 2007 in Nagano. The 2004/05 season, he finished sixth in the overall World Cup, the 2005/06 season in third place.

Three times Bernotas was American champion. At the 2005 World Championships in Calgary, he was eighth, two years later in St. Moritz, he won the silver medal in singles and team. At the World Championship 2009 he was again able to win with the team a medal, this time bronze. At the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006, he came in sixth place at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, he was a rank 14. For the following season, 2010/11 Bernotas could qualify without problems for the World Cup, but he lost after four races due to mediocre performance his place in the team. After the races in North America, he remained there, not traveled to Europe and was part of the technical program of the Association. After the season, he ended his career after 50 World Cup races. Since March, he coached the skeleton newcomers to the United States.
