Eric Bogle

Eric Bogle ( born 1944 in Peebles, Scotland ) is a Scottish- Australian singer, singer-songwriter and peace activist.

Life

In 1969 he emigrated to Australia and began working as an accountant in Canberra. Since 1980 he has devoted himself entirely to music and lives in South Australia near Adelaide.

A major theme of his songs is grappling with the war and the commitment to a peaceful coexistence. For Eric Bogle has received several awards, including a peace medal for the United Nations " to promote his efforts, with the help of music peace and interpersonal harmony " (United Nations).

Since 1979, Eric Bogle toured eight times by the United States and Canada, ten times through Europe and very often by Australia. During his European tour, he joined, among others, also in 1985 at the Berlin Festival of Political Song of the FDJ.

In the summer of 2009, Eric Bogle toured together with his longtime partner John Munro for probably the last time by the UK, Ireland and Canada.

Arrangements of his works

Some of his most famous anti-war songs such as No Man's Land were (also known as Green Fields of France known) and And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda many other singer-songwriters and bands such as June Tabor, The Dubliners, Joan Baez, Donovan, Dropkick Murphys, Angelic Upstarts, The Men They Could not Hang, Skrewdriver and the Pogues played, No Man's Land in German versions as it is at the time of Hannes Wader and juniper.

1992 coverte the German punk band Slime the song My Youngest Son on their album Viva La Muerte.
