Eric Bogosian

Eric Bogosian ( born April 24, 1953 in Woburn, Massachusetts) is an American actor of Armenian, playwright and screenwriter who is best known for his Oliver Stone verfilmtes play Talk Radio.

Life and work

Bogosian most cynical comedies are one-person pieces that can be performed by ensembles but. A microphone and a folding chair are the only tools needed by the main characters during his appearance to represent a number of different characters. For these pieces, which he initially wrote for himself, won three Obie Awards Bogosian, a Drama Desk Award and Talk Radio nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Bogosian Talk Radio itself adapted for the film by Oliver Stone and also played the lead role. He was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and received at the Berlin Film Festival Silver Bear in 1989.

Bogosian occurs repeatedly, usually as a prominent supporting actor in films, whereby he specializes in unconventional characters. From 2006 to 2010 he was a cast member of the American television series Criminal Intent - Criminal Intent.

Theater theory

In the preface to his collected plays, Bogosian explains his reminiscent in parts to the theory of epic theater of Bertolt Brecht's conception of the meaning and purpose of theater:

I want theater wakes me up, not that it lulls me and make you drowsy. My theater has nothing to do with imagination, nothing to do with seduction. My theater is not a movie script. There is no stage sitcom. I want my theater is an event. I want to cross borders, bite the hand that feeds me, beat heads.
