Eric Carmen

Eric Carmen ( born August 11, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American singer, songwriter and pianist.

Career

Eric Carmen was five years singer of The Raspberries, which he had founded in 1970 in Cleveland. The group had some hits, but broke up in 1975. Thereafter Carmen solo continued.

He became famous in 1976 with his pop - All By Myself adaptation of the second movement ( Adagio sostenuto ) of Rachmaninoff's famous Piano Concerto No.2 in C Minor. The song has been covered over the years by numerous artists, including Shirley Bassey, Ray Conniff, Tom Jones, Eartha Kitt, Il Divo, Carmen McRae and Céline Dion. Also, the subsequent hit Never Gonna Fall In Love Again (1976 ) is based on Rachmaninoff composition, the third set of his second symphony.
