Eric Darnell

Eric Darnell ( born 1960 ) is an American film director, screenwriter, animator, songwriter, and voice actor.

Life

Darnell attended the Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village and graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Colorado in Boulder from. He then worked for four years with grants from foundations to experimental films. In the television broadcast of a baseball game came to him in observing the camera work, the idea to try to computer animation. In 1989 he directed for Michael Stipes rock band REM the animated music video Get Up and graduated in 1991 the Department of Character Animation Pacific Data Images (PDI ), and worked on some advertising and feature films. When in 1996 there was a merger of PDI with DreamWorks, he helped without being mentioned in the credits at the Director of The Prince of Egypt from the year 1997 and rose as one into the animation business of DreamWorks.

Darnell's short film gas planet has been awarded for the use of computer animation, barely visible at the 1992 Ottawa Animation Festival of the Jury Prize for Best Computer Animation. The collaboration with director Tim Johnson in 2000 Antz went out the short 3D movie Cyberworld, which followed the adventures of Z- 4195. In addition, he has for the strip Shrek - wrote the lyrics to the song Welcome to Duloc The daring hero and was also active in the Madagascar films as a voice actor.

Darnell lives with his wife Laura and two children in Campbell.
