Eric Himelfarb (2014)

Eric Himelfarb ( born January 1, 1983 in Thornhill, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays as a striker for the SC Langenthal since 2009.

Career

Eric Himelfarb began his career in 1999 at the Sarnia Sting of the Canadian Junior Football League OHL with a good debut season when he came on 47 scorer points in 62 games. 2000/ 01 he was able to increase and scored in 49 league games 31 goals and prepared another 44 before. Himelfarb was then selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the sixth round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 at position 171.

The following season he was able to continue their good work, was team captain and third-best scorer of the Sting with 83 points. In the summer of 2002, he moved within the OHL to the Barrie Colts where stagnated his points haul. 2003/ 04 he played with the Kingston Frontenacs, where he completed his final OHL season. After the somewhat weaker season in Barrie, he was able to increase once again, was the fourth best scorer and second-best rigger in the league.

After the Frontenacs were eliminated after the first round of the playoffs, the Detroit Red Wings took him under contract, as the Montreal Canadiens had lost the rights to Himelfarb. For the rest of the season he was the farm team of the Red Wings, Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL used where in the remaining seven games of the season he left a good impression with two goals and three assists.

As the NHL season 2004/ 05 failed because of the lockout, Himelfarb had no way there to be used and kept playing with the Griffins in the AHL, where he met with 43 ​​points his good performances confirmed and the third best scorer of the team was. In the season 2005/ 06, however, the values ​​of Himelfarb went back and he could not with only 28 points recommended for the NHL squad of Red Wings and the following year he was unable to fulfill the expectations, so he second-class in the 2007 National League B for Lausanne HC moved. After a season in NLB in Lausanne, undertook the EHC Biel from the first-class National League A is the Canadians for a season.
