Eric Johannesen

Eric Johannesen (born 16 July 1988 in Oberhausen ) is a German rower. In 2011 he became world champion and 2012 Olympic champion in the eighth.

Career

Johannesen began in 2002 with the rowing. In 2005 he was World Junior Champion in the four with coxswain, in 2006, he finished eighth in the second place at the Junior World Championships. 2008 Johannesen won the quadruple sculls at the World Regatta in the age group U23 and in 2009 occupied the German sculls fifth place in the U23 World Championships. In 2010, he took along with Sebastian Peter second in the double sculls at the U23 World Championships, at the World Rowing Championships 2010, he launched together with Andreas Kuffner in the coxless pairs and finished fifth. 2011 moved Kuffner and Johannesen in Germany aft, with which they won the German Championship and the World Cup regatta in Munich and Lucerne, in between the two occurred together with Richard Schmidt and Kristof Wilke at the World Cup in Hamburg in four to coxless and also won in this Boat class. At the World Championships in Bled won eight of Germany, the following year the rollercoaster Germany won at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 the gold medal. The World Rowing Championships in 2013 he won a silver medal, behind the United Kingdom and ahead of the United States.

The 1.93m Sports soldier starts for the rowing club Bergedorf.
