Eric Korita

Eric Korita ( born January 13, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois ) is a former American professional tennis player.

Life

Korita reached the semifinals at the U.S. Open Junior tournament in 1980. The following year he reached the quarterfinals of the junior tournament from Wimbledon, in which he was defeated Henri Leconte. He studied at Southern Methodist University and was appointed to the Best All-American selection.

Korita was especially successful as a doubles player, only at the beginning of his career he had significant success in singles. These include semi-finals in Washington and South Orange in 1983. During the same year he reached for the first time a doubles final on the ATP World Tour, on the side of Paul Annacone, however, he was defeated at the tournament in Cologne Nick Saviano and Florin Segărceanu. His most successful year on the ATP World Tour was 1987, when he won the tournament with Rick Leach of Seoul and Brad Pearce was in Johannesburg in the final. This should be his only title. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1984 with position 46 in the singles and 1988 with position 30 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was the two-time reaching the third round at the U.S. Open. In the doubles competition in 1984 he was in the semifinals of the French Open. In the Mixed Competition 1988 he reached the quarterfinals of the French Open.
