Eric Orbom

Eric Orbom (* July 6, 1915, † 23 May 1959 Los Angeles, California ) was an American art director and production designer, the posthumous Oscar for Best Production Design in the color film Spartacus (1960 ) won at the Academy Awards in 1961.

Life

Orbom began his career as an art director in the film industry in Hollywood in 1950 with the film Abbott and Costello Meet Legionaries (Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion ) and worked until his death in the production of 36 films.

Together with Alexander Golitzen, Russell A. Gausman and Julia Heron he won at the Academy Awards 1961 posthumous Academy Award for Best Production Design in the only finished in 1960 histories and epic film Spartacus by Stanley Kubrick with Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier and Jean Simmons in the lead roles.
