Eric Revis

Eric Revis ( born May 31, 1967 in Los Angeles ) is an American jazz bassist.

At the age of fourteen years, Revis got an electric bass and learned the game autodidact. After studying biology at the Southern University a year he went to San Antonio / Texas, where he met jazz music and switched to acoustic bass. From 1991 to 1992 he studied with Ellis Marsalis, Harold Battiste and Victor Goines in New Orleans. Here he had the opportunity to play with musicians such as Brian Blade, Nicholas Payton, Chris Thomas, Mark Turner, Troy Davis, Peter Martin and Greg Tardy.

In 1994, Revis to New York, where he became a member of Betty Carter's band. He also performed regularly with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Billy Harper, Aaron Parks, Louis Hays, Lionel Hampton, Tess Marsalis, Russell Gunn and others. In 1997 he met Branford Marsalis, whose quartet he has since been one. Was published in 2004 Tales of the Stuttering Mime, his first album as a leader.
