Eric Salzman

Eric Salzman ( born September 8, 1933, New York City ) is an American composer.

Salzman studied at Columbia University with Otto Luening, Vladimir Ussachevski, Jack Hamilton Beeson and William Mitchell and Princeton University with Roger Sessions and Milton Babbitt. He also took courses in Oliver Strunk, Arthur Mendel and Nino Pirrotta. In 1957 he went to Rome to study with Goffredo Petrassi and was connect student of Karlheinz Stockhausen in Darmstadt. Until 1966 he was a music critic in New York, then a teacher and director of the Hunter College concerts. He founded the American Music Theater Festival, as its artistic director acts. He exercised teaching activities at Queens College of the City University of New York (1966-1968) and since 1982 at New York University.

Salzman created alongside multi-media pieces mainly works for electronic instruments.
