Eric Steinbach

Eric Steinbach ( born April 4, 1980 in New Lenox, Illinois) is an American professional American football player at the position of the Guards. He plays for the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League ( NFL).

Playing career

College career

Eric Steinbach attended Providence Catholic High School, where he also played American football. During his school years, three times in a row, his team won the state championship. After finishing school Steinbach studied from 1998 to 2002 at the University of Iowa. In 1998, he was only on the training field and was until 1999 part of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the football team of the college. In the same year he was able to secure a place as a starter on the position of guards, though he like in high school, should play as a tight end originally. After he had to fight in the game in 2000 with numerous injuries, he was chosen in 2001 by the Football League coach was Colle All-Star. After the 2002 season he was elected to the All American and offensive lineman of the Year his college league.

Professional career

Steinbach of the Cincinnati Bengals selected in 2003 in the second round by 33 out of the NFL Draft. He received a contract with a salary of 7.6 million U.S. dollars. He was used by the Bengals immediately as a starter for the protection of quarterback Jon Kitna. Since the Bengals had reached their salary cap after the 2006 season and thereby were able to offer a better contract Steinbach, he signed a contract for the 2007 season with the Cleveland Browns. The contract has a term of seven years and secures Steinbach a salary of 49.5 million U.S. dollars. Even with the Browns, he was able to establish itself immediately as a regular player.
