Erich Bielka

Erich Bielka, Erich Karl Bielka - litter ( born as Karl Ritter Bielka of litter, born May 15, 1908 in Vienna, † September 1, 1992 in Bad Aussee) was son of Arthur Knight Bielka by Karl good Hedwig, born Baroness von Seiller an Austrian diplomat, international law expert, resistance fighter and politician.

Life

Erich Bielka was a graduate of the Consular Academy, joined the Diplomatic Service in 1935 and in 1938, immediately after the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany as an anti-Nazi jailed ( celebrities transport, Gestapo Munich, KZ Dachau and Buchenwald ). After the war ended in 1945 he was instrumental in the construction of the Foreign Ministry of the Second Republic and was ambassador in Ankara ( 1952-1958 ), Cairo, Bern ( 1967-1972 ) and Paris (June 1972-1974 ) and Head of the Economic Policy Section, Political Director and as Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the highest ranking officials in the Foreign Ministry.

After Foreign Minister Rudolf Kirchschläger was elected president, Bielka from 1974 to 1976 in the SPÖ government under Chancellor Bruno Kreisky non-party foreign minister. In the context of the Austrian " neighborhood policy " against the socialist states Bielka visited in 1976, the GDR before Kreisky in 1978 as the first Western head of government took the trip to the GDR.

Bielka founded in 1988 along with former Foreign Minister Erwin Lanc and Ambassador Hans Thalberg the Austria and Europe initiative with the aim to develop alternatives to an EU membership application. He pointed as international law comparisons between the Austrian and Irish neutrality back and protested strongly against the asserted by some of his successors postulate: " The neutrality interpret only we." The former Declarations by the Federal government for a reconciliation of permanent neutrality, with an EC accession he called a " catastrophic error of judgment ", which filled him with " deepest concern". He wrote retired various international and contemporary publications such as The Kreisky era.

He was married with the actress coming from Hungary Etelka Görög. Erich and Etelka Bielka are Grinzing Cemetery ( Group 7, Series 6, No. 5) buried.
