Erich Iltgen

Erich Iltgen (* July 10, 1940 in Cologne) is a German politician ( CDU). He was 1990-2009 President of the Saxon Landtag.

Life

After training as agricultural machinery and motor locksmith 1954-1957 Iltgen studied from 1958 to 1964 Engineer of Agricultural Engineering and diploma engineer for heating, ventilation and plumbing. After that, he was from 1964 to 1979 responsible as a group leader in power plant construction and from 1979 to 1985 as head of investments in the Saxon serum Dresden until he finally of the 1985 to 1988 as head of the Fabric of the Diocese of Dresden- Meissen Cathedral and from 1988 to 1990 as a building authorities diocese of Dresden- Meissen was active ( Ordinariatsrat ).

Erich Iltgen is Roman Catholic, married and has four children.

Policy

Between 1989 and 1990, was Iltgen Moderator of the Round Table of the district Dresden, the founder of the Saxon Forum, member of the Coordination Committee for the Education of Saxony and state structure representative of the working group " Parliament".

In June 1990, he joined the CDU. He was elected through the constituency 42 (Dresden IV) in the First Parliament of Saxony and on 27 October 1990 its president. In the following state elections in Saxony in the years 1994, 1999 and 2004, he was confirmed in each case in office. In the 2nd and 3rd term, he represented the constituency of 45 (Dresden IV) in the fourth term constituency Dresden 6 He is also a member of the board of the CDU state association.

In the criticism he got as President of the Parliament on 9 May 2007, when he let it pass xenophobic Ausfälligkeiten of the NPD party leader Holger Apfel silently and only hours later responded with a call to order.

In the Saxon state parliament election in 2009, he no longer stood as a candidate.

Honors
