Erich Klossowski

Erich Klossowski (Polish Eryk Klossowski, born December 19, 1875 in Ragnit, East Prussia, † January 23, 1949 in Sanary -sur -Mer, France) was a stage designer, painter and art historian, author, inter alia, a German-language monograph on Daumier, and a french-language monograph on Eugène Delacroix.

He came from a small aristocratic Polish family, who used the " Rola " crest.

He was husband of the painter Baladine Klossowska (1886-1969), father of the painter Balthus ( Balthasar Klossowski, 1908-2001 ) and the writer Pierre Klossowski ( 1905-2001 ).

The desire of his wife following, he moved to in 1900 from Wroclaw to Paris. There his two sons were born.

In 1917 he was divorced and married the Swiss Hilde Stieler (born Hildegard Gertrude Selma Meyer), who in turn separated from the actor and director Kurt Stieler. 1939 Klossowski obtained French nationality.
