Erich Linemayr

Erich Line Mayr (born 24 January 1933 in Linz, Austria ) is an Austrian former FIFA referee. In his career, he whistled three matches at World Cups, two in Germany in 1974, one in 1978 in Argentina. He also led two matches for the European Football Championship in Italy in 1980 and the final of the European Cup Champion 1978 / 79th

In his career, 1966-1981, he whistled 52 European Cup matches and 30 internationals. Until 2003 he was an international referee observer of UEFA.

He became known among other things as the arbiter of Frankfurt water battle. He also refereed the "game" Chile against USSR in 1973, which took place in Santiago de Chile on 21 November 1973. It was a qualifying match for the World Cup 1974., The Soviet Union did not compete in protest against the military coup and the torture of Pinochtregimes and Chile team stood alone on the court and won 1-0.
