Erich Neumann (psychologist)

Erich Neumann ( born January 23, 1905 in Berlin, † November 5, 1960 in Tel Aviv ) was a German -Israeli psychologist and psychoanalyst. In 1928 he married the psychoanalyst and Chirologin Julie Blumenfeld ( 1905-1985 ), the couple had two children.

Life

Erich Neumann studied philosophy, psychology and medicine, 1927, he received a doctorate in phil. and laid in Berlin in 1933 his first state examination in medicine from. In Heidelberg he was a personal friend of Hannah Arendt. In 1933 he went to Switzerland, where he received a deep psychological training in CG Jung in the years 1933/34. 1934 made ​​him the situation in Germany to emigrate to Palestine, where he maintained a private psychotherapy practice in Tel Aviv.

Neumann is considered the most significant and most independent students especially CG Jung. He succeeded to found his own school. Neumann should take the professional legacy of his mentor, but died one year before him.

Large distribution was mainly his origin story of Consciousness ( 1949). It is one of the books that are considered as the basis of various deep psychological literature.

From 1948, Neumann involved until his death in 1960, with a total of 14 lectures at the Eranos conferences.
