Erich Urbanner

Erich Urbanner ( born March 26, 1936 in Innsbruck) is an Austrian composer and music teacher.

Biography

Urbanner studied from 1955 to 1961 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna composition with Karl Schiske and Hanns Jelinek, piano with Grete Hinterhofer and conducting with Hans Swarovsky. In the Darmstadt summer courses he took composition classes with Wolfgang Fortner, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Bruno Maderna.

From 1961 he taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna score game. In 1969 he became a full professor of composition and music theory. From 1969 to 1974 he headed the Zwölftonsenminar, from 1986 to 1989, the Institute for electroacoustics and experimental music. Since 1968 he also worked as a conductor.

Urbanner composed pieces for solo instruments, chamber music, orchestral works ( including several concertos, a Mass and a Requiem and several operas).
