Career

The Hockey Erich Weishaupt began in his native ESV Kaufbeuren. He has been with the young German champion. He, too, could not avoid relegation from the Bundesliga in 1975. After the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1975, where he managed the German national ice hockey team to move up to the A group and qualify for the Olympics, brought him Xaver nonsense, who was coach and trainer of the Berlin SC at this time, to the Spree. With the Berliners he was right in the first season champion and German as a second goalkeeper he won bronze at the Olympic Games in Innsbruck.

With nonsense resignation as coach in 1977 Weishaupt resigned, but returned back in 1978 in the German goal and was also at the Ice Hockey World Championship 1979 in the squad. His move from Berlin to Mannheim in 1978 caused a stir. Although duly obliged by Berlin gave the Mannheimer ERC because of internal strife between the Berliner SC and the upstream ice Berlin KG and Hockey Berlin KG until after the official transfer deadline, so that the DEB but wanted to know all previously accumulated points on 8 November the player pass. Mannheim and with another player also affected SB Rosenheim their sheer injunction so that games were canceled on a weekend all Bundesliga. Before an ordinary court, the clubs finally won against the association.

Overall, however, Weishaupt had his best time in Mannheim. In 1979 he was elected Player of the Year and in 1980 he took with the Mannheimer ERC the German championship. In 1983 he again played at the Ice Hockey World Championship and then moved to Düsseldorf EC. With the Ice Hockey World Cup 1986, he joined on the big stage.

He returned to the Allgäu back and even played one year in the EA Kempten in the second division, but then turned to his profession as a dental technician.
