Erik Andersson (ice hockey, born 1971)

Erik Andersson ( born August 19, 1971 in Stockholm ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who was active among other things, for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League in its active period from 1988 to 2001.

Career

Erik Andersson began his career as a hockey player with the Vallentuna BK, for the first team he 1988/89 made ​​his debut in the then still second-class Division 1 in the season. After one season in the league rivals Danderyd HC, he ran for two years for AIK Solna on in the Elitserien, in 35 games for which he scored a goal and an assist each. In the 1991/92 season he also stood in parallel for his former club Vallentuna BK on the ice, which had descended in the meantime in the third-class Division 2. After a year outside of the professional hockey winger from 1993 to 1997 attended the University of Denver and played for their hockey team in the National Collegiate atletic Association.

In the NHL Entry Draft in 1997 Eriksson was selected in the third round as 70th overall player of the Calgary Flames. Seven years earlier had him the Los Angeles Kings drafted in the NHL Entry Draft in 1990, he had signed but in the meantime in any NHL team, he could be re-elected. In the season 1997/98 season the Swede scored in twelve games for the Calgary Flames two goals and an assist. He spent the rest of the season, however, at their farm team, the Saint John Flames of the American Hockey League. The following season, he began also in Saint John, but signed after only five games with the Indianapolis Ice of the International Hockey League. From 1999 to 2001 he played another two years in the Elitserien for his former club AIK Solna, before he ended his career at the age of 29 years.

Internationally

For Sweden, Andersson took part in the European Junior Championships in 1989 and the Junior World Championship in 1991 in part.
