Erik Christensen

Erik Christensen ( born December 17, 1983 in Edmonton, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with the HV71 from the Svenska Hockey ligands since October 2013.

Career

The 1.85 m wide center began his career with the Kamloops Blazers in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League before he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 as 69th in the third round by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The links Sagittarius spent two more years with the Blazers and then moved to the Brandon Wheat Kings League rivals. In the 2002/03 season he was top scorer of the Western Hockey League with 108 points. The lockout in the 2004/05 season spent Christensen at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, a farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the American Hockey League. On 31 October 2005, the Canadian was first appointed to the NHL roster of franchises from Pittsburgh, his first goal in the top North American professional league, he scored three days later in the game against the New York Islanders.

On February 26, 2008 Erik Christensen was transferred along with Colby Armstrong, Angelo Esposito and a first-round draft pick in the NHL Entry Draft in 2008 in a trade - deadline exchange for Marián Hossa and Pascal Dupuis to the Atlanta Thrashers. During the following season, he was traded again and played in the result of the exchange with the Anaheim Ducks. In December 2009, the Ducks put him on the waiver list, from which he was engaged by the New York Rangers.

As of June 2012 stood at Christensen HC Lev Prague from the Kontinental Hockey League contract before he was released in October 2013 and this was a few days later committed by the HV71 from the Svenska Hockey ligands.
