Erik De Clercq
Erik De Clercq Désiré Alice ( born March 28, 1941 in Dendermonde ) is a Belgian virologist and physician.
Life
De Clercq focuses its research on the development of drugs to treat viral infections. Since 1976 he cooperates closely with the Czech researchers Antonín Holý. Together they developed the antiviral drug tenofovir.
Since the early 1990s, worked Holý and De Clercq, together with the U.S. pharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences.
