Erik Gustafsson (ice hockey, born 1988)

Erik Gustafsson (* 15 December 1988 in Kvissleby ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since 2010 at the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League under contract and playing in parallel for their farm team in Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League.

Career

Erik Gustafsson began his career as a hockey player in his native Sweden at youth level of Timrå IK, for which he was active until 2007. He then spent three years at the Northern Michigan University, for their hockey team he was parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association active. There, the defender reached several individual awards, after which he signed a contract as a free agent with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League on 31 March 2010. For their farm team Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League, he gave towards the end of the 2009/10 season his debut in professional hockey. By the end of the season he scored in five AHL games two goals and five assists.

In the season 2010/ 11 was Gustafsson regular for the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL. In addition, he was in three games for the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL on the ice. The following season began, the Swede at the Adirondack Phantoms in the AHL, but could earn a regular place in the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL during the second half of the season.

Internationally

At the World Championships in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki Gustafsson was part of the Men's National Team and won the gold medal with this.
