Erik Karlsson
Erik Karlsson (born 31 May 1990 in Landsbro ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who plays for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League since 2009.

Career
Erik Karlsson began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of the IF Troja Ljungby - in which he was active until 2006. Then the defender played for the youth teams of Södertälje SK and Frölunda HC, before he made his debut for the first team Frölundas in the Elitserien during the 2007 /08 season. Here, in 13 games, he scored a goal. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2008 in the first round than a total of 15 players from the Ottawa Senators. In his first full season in professional hockey the right shooter scored in 56 games six goals and seven assists were in the Elitserien for Frölunda. He also contributed an assist in seven appearances for the Borås HC in the subprime HockeyAllsvenskan.
For the 2009/10 season Karlsson received a contract with the Ottawa Senators, for which he October 3, 2009 for the first time was at the game against the New York Rangers on the ice. In summer 2012, Karlsson extended his contract with the Senators by seven years and will receive an estimated $ 45.5 million. During the 2012/13 lockout Karlsson played for Jokerit.
In February 2013 Karlsson was during a league game in a duel, injured by an opponent. He retired while a partial demolition of the Achilles tendon in his left foot to and thus fell for the rest of the season.

For Sweden, Karlsson took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2008 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2009.
