Erik Nash

Erik Nash ( born December 21, 1959) is a VFX supervisor who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 2005 and 2012.

Life

He studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles and earned a degree as a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication. After that he started as a camera assistant for Visual Effects at the special effects company Apogee, Inc., where he worked on the movie Star Trek: The Motion participated. He then worked on various short films by Douglas Trumbull, with whom he collaborated on Star Trek: The film had worked.

The early 1990s, he worked for a total of eight seasons in the series Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In 1995 he moved as a specialist in visual effects to digital domain. In the following years he worked in this capacity on such films as Titanic, Armageddon - The Last Judgment and Red Planet. He was nominated for the film I, Robot with John Nelson, Andrew R. Jones and Joe Letteri for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects in 2005. In the same category he was nominated in 2012 for Real Steel again. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
