Erika Mann (politician)

Erika Mann ( born November 2, 1950 in Leipzig ) is a German politician and from 1994 to 2009 Member of the European Parliament for the Social Democratic Party.

Life and career

Erika Mann is a graduate teacher and worked at the University of Hannover. In addition, she works as a consultant in the IT sector.

Erika Mann stayed on 26 November 2008 in India and survived the Mumbai attacks unharmed. She was a member of an eight-member delegation of the Committee on International Trade, along with fellow German MEP Daniel Caspary ( CDU) as a guest at the Hotel Taj Mahal.

Since November 2011, Erika Mann represents as a lobbyist interests Facebooks in Brussels.

Policy

Erika Mann joined the SPD in 1972 and since 1995 has been a board member of the Association of self / Association Management ( AGS / AGW) in the SPD Hanover district. She was until 1996 the district council deputy of the district Northeim.

From 1994 to 2009 she was a member of the European Parliament for the Party of European Socialists (PES ). There she was a member of the Conference of Delegation Chairmen, Member of the Committee on International Trade, alternate member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and alternate member of the Committee on Budgetary Control. In addition, she was Coordinator of the PES Group in the Committee on International Trade ( INTA) and a member of the Steering Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly to the WTO. In the European elections 2009, she missed the re-election to the European Parliament.
