Erin Morgenstern

Erin Morgenstern ( born July 8, 1978) is an American author. My first book The Night Circus was also placed # 2 in the best-seller list of The New York Times.

Life

Morgenstern grew up in Marshfield (Massachusetts ), and studied art and theater studies at Smith College in Northampton, where she graduated in 2000. She currently lives in Manhattan. In addition to writing she paints of her dates, for example, a black and white Tarot deck. Her first novel, The Night Circus was published by Doubleday in 2011, the German translation of Brigitte Jakobeit 2012 has been published by Ullstein.

The Night Circus

The Night Circus is a romantic fantasy story. It takes place mainly in the period around the turn of the 19th to the 20th century from.

Two magicians compete against each other for centuries. Everyone wants to convince the other of the superiority of his system. The clashes are discharged from their students by fighting to the death. In the current round of unscrupulous Hector sends his daughter Celia against Alexander's student Marco in the race. Venue of the debate is the eponymous night circus that is created for this purpose. Instead, however, to outdo each other with their skills, develop the two protagonists a sense of their counterpart and create attractions that are complementary or harmonious contrast. Both recognize that their connection is more than the commitment to the fight. To this end, they feel that they also have a responsibility for members of the Night Circus. Thus, they seek a solution both for the fulfillment of their love as well as for the continuation of the night circus. They are dependent on others' help, their behavior but they do not magically influence because they want to preserve their freedom of choice.

Awards

The Night Circus was awarded the Alex Awards from the American Library Association. The book was nominated for the Guardian First Book Award 2011.
