Erkanbald
Erkan Soon OSB (also Erchanbald; * before 997; † August 17, 1021 ) was 997-1011 Abbot of Fulda and from 1011 to his death Archbishop of Mainz. He is buried in St. John's Church in Mainz.
Erkan Soon came from the family of the Counts of Ölsburg and was related to Bishop Bernward of Hildesheim. As abbot and later supported as Archbishop Erkan Soon Emperor Henry II, to whom he also owed to the appointment as archbishop of Mainz. Even before his death he raised Holy Cross, formerly of St. Mary in the field, a collegiate.
1991 identified one archaeological find from a slate as Seal of the archbishop.
