Erkki Karu

Erkki Karu, native Erland Erkki Fredrik Kumlander, ( born April 10, 1887 in Helsinki, † December 8, 1935 ) was a Finnish film director and producer.

Life

Erkki Karu was strolling player before he and others founded the film production company in 1919 Suomi- Filmi. This became the leading film company in Finland in the 1920s. His 1923 film The incurred Logroller 's Bride was the first internationally traded Finnish film. 1931 turned Karu his first sound film, 1933, he founded the film company Suomen Filmiteollisuus. Usually he also wrote the screenplay and produced the cut version, created his films practically the same person.

Karus film Nuori Luotsi (1928 ) 1972 was the first film that has been restored by the Finnish Film Institute.

Erkki Karu was married to Elli Kylmänen, with whom he had two children, Olavin (1916-1992) and Sinikan (1917-1994).
