Erkki Lehtonen

Erkki Tapani Lehtonen ( born January 9, 1957 in Tampere ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player. His brother Antero Lehtonen was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Erkki Lehtonen started his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Tappara Tampere, in which he was active until 1976. He then spent a year at the Bellingham Ice Hawks of the Canadian Junior Football League British Columbia Hockey League, before he returned for the season 1977/78 to Tappara. With the professional team of Tappara Tampere of the SM - liiga he won the Finnish championship titles in 1979, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1987 and 1988. The 1988/89 season spent at the Center BSC Preussen in the hockey league. For the Berlin he scored eight goals in 27 games and 25 templates. Then he returned for two more seasons to Tappara Tampere, in the 1991, he finished his career at the age of 34 years. In 1997 he was honored with induction into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Internationally

For Finland took Lehtonen at the 1986 World Cup and the Olympic Winter Games in 1988 in part in Calgary. At the Winter Games he won the silver medal with his team.
