Erland von Koch

Erland von Koch ( born April 26, 1910 in Stockholm, † January 30, 2009 ) was a Swedish composer.

Life

The son of Swedish composer Sigurd von Koch (1879-1919) studied at the Conservatory of Stockholm from 1931 to 1935 and also passed the higher cantor and organist exam. In the period 1936-1938 he was in Germany and France and studied with Paul Höffer composition, with Clemens Krauss conducting and piano with Claudio Arrau. Private studies he also took at goal man in Sweden. At the Karl- Wohlfarts Music School, he worked as a teacher from 1939 to 1945. In radio, he worked from 1943 to 1945 as a sound expert and conductor. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, wrote of cooking the film music for films by Ingmar Bergman, Hasse Ekman and others. From 1953 to 1975 he was professor of harmony at the Conservatory of Music in Stockholm, he was appointed professor in 1968. Since 1957 he was a member of the Royal Academy of Music. From Koch received numerous national and international awards and prizes. He wrote five symphonies, 12 Scandinavian dances, an opera ( Pelle Svanslös ), five ballets and music for wind band.
