Erlbach- Kirchberg is a district of the city Lugau / Erzgeb. in the north of Erzgebirgskreises in Saxony. They belonged to 31 December 2012 for the management community Lugau and was on 1 January 2013 after Lugau / Erzgeb. incorporated.

Erlbach- Kirchberg consists of the two districts Erlbach and Kirchberg, which were formerly independent villages.

History

Erlbach was established by the settlement of Frankish peasants in the 12th century as Waldhufendorf. The town was first mentioned in 1486. The settlement was later separated by gift of the Lords of Waldenburg in the monastery Gruenhain and in 1957 reunited. In the village lived mostly bonded laborers and huntsmen of Stollberg. Thus, the main industries were charcoal burning, the peat-cutting and Erzwaschen. Two mills were still working until 1930.

Kirchberg 1712-1713 was affected by witch hunts. Three women came in witch trials. 1713 Rosina, wife of the farmer Christoph Schulze, 36 years old, was convicted on charges of cattle spell of 4 weeks in jail. Kirchberg was incorporated into Lugau on 1 April 1922.

On 1 January 1999 origin was incorporated. Since its incorporation took place on 1 January 2013 the municipality Erlbach- Kirchberg to Lugau the two districts Lugauer Erlbach- Kirchberg and origin form a separate village within the city.

Memorials

In the cemetery of the local part Erlbach a memorial commemorates six unknown concentration camp inmates on a death march from Auschwitz, who were murdered in March 1945 by SS men.

Traffic

Erlbach- Kirchberg is located in the triangle between the B 180 in the west, the B 173 in the north and the A72 to the east. This can be reached via the connections Stollberg Stollberg North and West in about 8 km away. The location is situated 20 km east of Zwickau, 18 km west of Chemnitz and 10 km north- west of the county seat Stollberg / Erzgeb .. The 1990 and 2009 disused railway line Neuoelsnitz degraded desert fire led by the community.
