The Erlenbach in the Palatinate Forest (Region Palatinate state of Rhineland -Palatinate ) is the main source and also the most powerful source of Speyer Bach Bach, the largest surface water of Vorderpfalz.

The Erlenbach springs east of Palatine main watershed at Eschkopf massif (609 m) in 460 m height. The source is taken in the Hussars fountain.

Already after 5 km run in a northerly direction the Erlenbach combined with the Speyerbach at its nominal source pond in Elmsteiner district Speyerbrunn. Therefore, the source of the Erlenbach is considered hydrologically than the actual Speyerbach source.

From Hussars fountain to its confluence with the Rhine at Speyer, the system Erlenbach / Speyerbach is 60 km long. It has a catchment area of 596 km ².
