Erlensee

Erlensee is a town in the Main -Kinzig district, in Hesse on the Federal Highway 66 about 25 kilometers east of Frankfurt am Main.

Geography

Geographical Location

Erlensee is located at the junction of the Wetterau in the Kinzig valley at about 110 meters above sea level. NN. The Kinzig flows south past the city before it enters the lake located southwest alder, vast forest area of Bulau. North of the city begins the Ronneburger hills.

Neighboring communities

The city Erlensee bordered to the northwest of the city Bruchkoebel and on the northeast by the municipality of Neuberg, on the east by the city Langenselbold and to the community Rodenbach. In the southwest of the city Erlensee borders the city of Hanau am Main.

History

Prehistoric and Medieval

During the Roman period (ca. 100-260 AD) were to secure the Upper Germanic - Rhaetian Limes in the area of ​​today's Rückingen the cohort fort Rückingen (also Castle Old Castle or Old Castle ) with about 500 soldiers from Dalmatia and in Langendiebach the fortlet Langendiebach. Aerodrome
