Geography

Erligheim located in Ensbachtal on the eastern foothills of the Strombergs, and is approximately 17 km north- west of the county town of Ludwigsburg. The municipality is part of the Natural Park Stromberg -Heuchelberg.

History

Erligheim was first mentioned in the Lorsch codex in a dated to 793 certificate. In the High Middle Ages, the lords of gastric home act as owners. Began in 1388 as in neighboring Boennigheim the Ganerbentum of the place: The Lords of Saxony home, Neipperg, love stone and Gemmingen were the joint owners of Erligheim. 1785 came to the Duchy of Württemberg Erligheim where it belonged to the upper office Besigheim. 1822 Erligheim became an independent municipality, who came to the district of Ludwigsburg, with resolution of the top Office 1938.

Religions

Coat of arms and flag

The coat of arms shows a silver rooted green alder, the tribe beheftet with a rising red moon with face. The municipality flag is green and white. Coat of arms and flag were presented to the community on April 8, 1980.

Monuments

  • In the center there is the Protestant St. John's Church, which has a portal with the year 1740 and a sundial on the facade.

Economy and infrastructure

In Erligheim agriculture still plays an important role, more than 60% of the municipal area is used for agriculture. Covering more than 40 hectares of wine is grown, mostly the sorts Blue Portugal, Pinot Meunier and Lemberger. In addition, there are about 30 hectares of fruit crops. Nationally known is the Erligheimer Cherry Blossom, about 1,200 cherry trees on contiguous surface lure in nice weather to thousands of visitors.

Education

In Erligheim there is a kindergarten and a primary school. A primary school and all secondary schools are located in Boennigheim. The Erligheimer students visit secondary schools of the larger cities and Besigheim Bietigheim -Bissingen.

Supply and disposal

The electricity network in the municipality is operated by EnBW Regional AG. The gas network operated by Stadtwerke Bietigheim- Bissingen GmbH. The drinking water is obtained from the Besigheimer water supply group. The waste is taken from the Abfallverwertungsgesellschaft of the district Ludwigsburg mbH ( AVL), a 100 % subsidiary of the district Ludwigsburg. AVL is mandated to carry out the tasks for the prevention, recovery and disposal of waste on behalf of the district Ludwigsburg.
