Ermengol IX, Count of Urgell

Ermengol IX. († 1243 ) was a Count of Urgell from the House of Cabrera. He was the elder son of the Count of Urgell and the Ponç María González Girón.

Ermengol was still a child when he succeeded his late father in 1243. In the same year he died himself, whereupon the county of Urgell went over to his brother Álvaro. Due to his immaturity and short term Ermengol is ignored in contemporary chronicles, but his grave in the church of Santa María de Castellón de Farfana witnessed its existence. The cover plate of his sarcophagus with sun figure was converted in the 1960s into the branch The Cloisters of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
