Ermera

The East Timorese place Ermera ( Vila Ermera, in ancient sources: Hermera ) is the capital of the subdistrict Ermera and the former capital of the district Ermera.

The place

The settlement Ermera, in the center of the Sucos Poetete, is a loosely connected settlement from the places Poetete, Poepun ( Poepung ) and Loblala. Ermera lies 1195 m above sea level. History

The kingdom of Ermera participated in the 18th century at the Cailaco rebellion against the Portuguese.

Beginning of 1976 reached the Indonesian invasion troops Ermera. A part of the population fled for fear of the mountains. After the conquest of Samara ( subdistrict Hatulia ) on April 24, 500 of its residents were interned in place Ermera, where they suffered from hunger due to lack of food supply. Economy
