Ernest Blum

Ernest Blum ( born August 15, 1836 in Paris, † September 18, 1907 ibid ) was a French dramatist and librettist.

The son of an actor his first major success in 1854 with the play Une femme qui murder. Then in rapid succession came other comedies, also wrote Blum dramas, tragedies, vaudeville, burlesque, farce and fairy pieces. For Jacques Offenbach wrote the librettos for La Jolie perfumer and Belle Lurette, for Gaston Serpette the librettos for Le château de Tire- Larigot, Le petit chaperon rouge, Adam et Eve, Le carnet du Diable, Le royaume des femmes and Le carillon.

Furthermore, Blum was since 1869 an employee of the Journal Rappel, where he wrote theater columns under the pseudonym Marsy, and Le Charivari. With Louis Huart, he wrote in 1860, the memoirs of the Cancan dancer Rigolboche ( Marguerite Badel ). 1866 published a collection of his works with a foreword by Henri Rochefort.
