Ernest Chapman

William Ernest Chapman OAM (* April 11, 1926, † March 21, 2013 ) was an Australian rower.

Chapman started for the Sydney Rowing Club, where he remained throughout his life. In the Olympic Rowing Regatta in 1952 in Helsinki, he won the Australian men's eight at No. 2 sitting the bronze medal behind the teams in the United States and the Soviet Union. From 1975 to 1978 and from 1979 to 1995 he was Chairman of the Sydney RC. For his services to the Australian rowing, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM ).
