Ernest, Duke of Austria

Ernst the Iron (* 1377 in Bruck an der Mur, † June 10, 1424 ibid ) from the House of Habsburg was Duke of Inner Austria.

Ernst is the fourth son of Duke Leopold III. (1351-1386) and his wife Princess Viridis Visconti of Milan from the home, a daughter of Bernabo Visconti and his wife Beatrice della Scala.

Life

Ernst was after the death of his father fallen at Sempach in 1386 Leopold III. of the righteous under the tutelage of Albrecht with the braid. In 1401 he accompanied the German king Rupert on the train to Italy against the Visconti of Milan. Duke Ernst of Austria and Styria married his first marriage on January 14, 1392 in Bruck an der Mur Princess Margaret ( 1366-1407 ), daughter of Bogislaw V, Duke of Pomerania and his wife Princess Adelheid of Brunswick- Grubenhagen. The marriage remained childless.

His second wife he married in 1412 in Bruck an der Mur, the herzöglich Masovian Cymburgis Princess of Mazovia ( also Cimburka, Zimburg or Zimburgis ) ( 1394-1429 ), daughter of Duke masowienischen Ziemowit IV and his wife, Grand Duchess Alexandra of Lithuania.
