Ernest Millington

Ernest Rogers Millington DFC (* February 15 1916 in Ilford, † 9 May 2009) was a British politician.

In April 1945, the former Royal Air Force pilot Millington was elected in a by-election in the House of Commons and belonged to him from 1945 to 1950. The by-election was necessitated because the former MP John MacNamara was shot down in December 1944 in Italy. Between April and July 1945 Millington was the youngest member of the House. Originally selected for the Commonwealth Party, he joined the Labour Party in 1946. In 1950 he lost his seat to Hubert Aston, the candidate of the Conservative Party. In 1954 he came back with the Royal Air Force, but left it again after four years. Then Millington was working as a teacher.

1979 his first wife died Gwen, with whom he was married from 1937 to 1974. In the early 1980s, he retired and moved to the Dordogne in France with his second wife. From his first marriage four daughters were born.

In 2006 he published his autobiography Was That Really Me? .
