Ernest Wichner

Ernest Wichner (* April 17, 1952 in Zábraní ( German Guttenbrunn ), Banat, Romania ) is a German writer and director of the House of Literature Berlin.

Life

Wichner visited the Nikolaus Lenau Lyceum and was then a student of German literature and Rumänistik at the later University of the West Timişoara. He was a founding member of the Writers' Circle Action Group Banat, which existed from 1972 to 1975. In 1975 he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany, where he earned a degree in German Studies and Political Science at the Free University of Berlin. Ernest Wichner belongs to the German PEN Center. Wichner is a writer, literary critic, translator and editor in Berlin. Since 2003 he is head of the House of Literature Berlin.

Wichner accompanied Pastior 2004 Oskar and Herta Müller on a trip to the Ukraine to the storage place where Pastior was deported between 1945 and 1949 as romania German forced laborers. Pastior memories compressed Müller in her novel respiratory swing.
