Ernő Hetényi

Ernő Hetényi ( born February 13, 1912 in Budapest, † September 17, 1999 ) was a Hungarian author and Buddhologist. He founded the Eastern branch of the Order Arya Maitreya Mandala, which he led for decades.

Life and work

Hetényis father was the Hungarian operetta composer Albert Hetényi Heidelberg ( 1875-1951 ).

After Hetényi on March 29, 1953 received the initiation into the Arya Maitreya Mandala, Lama Anagarika Govinda on the head of his Order of Eastern Europe called him. In 1956 he founded in Budapest, the first European academic seminar of the Order, the " Alexander Csoma de Körös Institute for Buddhology " ( Csoma Sándor Kőrösi Buddhológiai Intézet ) involving, among other things, Stephan Palos worked.
